When Ian Johns left the Fire Brigade it seemed a simple step to continue to apply his considerable expertise to the commercial world. Within a decade he has grown an organisation that delivers services to around 1,000 sites all over the UK.

“Having spent years dealing with situations where people have got it wrong, it made sense to apply that knowledge to help more people to get it right. It’s life-destroying in more ways than one when a fire breaks out in a business – even when there are no human casualties, the effect on the business, its owner and staff can be devastating,” says Ian.

Carlton Fire & Safety Services was formed in the year 2000 and became a Limited Company in 2004. With customers as diverse as Schools, Colleges, Hospitals, Hotels, Restaurants, Shops, Shopping Centres, Offices and Factories, Carlton has a breadth of experience hard to match.

“Although most of our clients are in the South East of England, we service premises as far north as Skegness in Lincolnshire and as far south as Portsmouth in Hampshire,” explains Ian. He goes on to say, “We’re focused on both an excellent standard of workmanship and developing an honest and reliable relationship with all our customers. This means we do what we say we’re going to do, on time and without skimping on quality – oh, yes, we keep our prices at a sensible level too!”
